Altenmarkt in Winter
Altenmarkt im Pongau is situated in the Easten part of the skiarea Salzurger Sportwelt Ski Amadé. All together 860 piste km on the same lift card.
Altenmarkt is a cosy old village mostly renown for the skifacory Atomic. The village is filled with cafees, shops and what else should be part of a skivacation in Austria. October 2010 Family Soletherme Amadé Spa & Pool Complex providing the whole family with both fun and relaxing experiences. What about the largest sauna world in the area and a looping slide - all of it overlooking the mountains of Altenmarkt-Zauchensee?
Besides there is an indoor tennins court, squash courts and fitness-center.
The ski area in Altenmarkt is situated 1.5 kilometer from the apartment (free ski bus almost at the doorstep) and is connected with Radstadt. It is a very cosy and spread on 25 piste km. Strangely enough it is clearly the favourite place of our family even with the bigger and more wellknown areas near by. It's mostly locals and a really lovely place with lots of high spirit being exercised at the afterski events.
By ski bus there is around 10-15 minutes to Zauchensee. This ski area is very snow secure and is connecting to the ski areas near by; Flachau, Flachauwinkl, Wagrain, Kleinarl, Alpendorf and St. Johann.
This provides many opportunities to start and end the skiing day various places as Altenmarkt is also connected by skibus with these areas.
The skibus can also take you to some of the smaller ski areas like Eben (4 min.) and Filzmoos (15 min).

Comming by car there are other areas which are fairly near: These are the ever snow secure Dachsteiner glacier and Schladming (ca. 20 min.), Hochkonig (40 min.), as well as the Gastein areas (ca. 45 min.).They are all a part of Ski Amade and on the same lift card.
Other areas are within reach like e.g. Obertaurn (25 min), where the Austrian National skiing team practices and Kaprun/zell am See (1 hour). These areas requires seperate ski lift card for the time being. The plan is to build a lift between Obertauern og Zauchensee .
